Twitter: new trend in social media

Twitter is a new social networking and microblogging website that allows users to send and read other users' updates. These updates, also known as tweets, are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. Twitter's structure separates itself from Facebook: it is simple and easy to use. While Facebook has become more popular, it has also become more complicated. There is just way too much information that is irrelevant. There seems to be a trend with many social networking websites. They always become very popular and then end up being taken over by a faster and more efficient website. Advertising seems to take over. MySpace started out as one of the first popular social networking websites in the USA. While it became huge, Facebook took over. It is definitely possible for Twitter to become larger than Facebook.

I think that Twitter has the advantage of microblogging over Facebook. It is already clear that social networking can be done by connecting with users and sharing pictures. However, there is yet to be a website with microblogging. Twitter is still developing. Thus, they need to raise more money and solidify their technology in order for it to rise to the top. Twitter must do this so that they are the main company and don't work for another website (Google).

Their idea of microblogging is the next step for the Internet. It has already become a popular way of free speech and easy access to information for both producers and consumers. While there are applications on Facebook to receive updates on your phone, it is not the same as receiving a text, in less than 140 characters, about an update. This can also serve as a faster and more efficient way for companies to receive quick customer service. Microblogging will be the new form of the Internet. It is a mix of blogging with messaging.

I agree with your posting..
In this social networking age, people require fast and easy things, so I think twitter becomes popular.
I'm so sad that I can't log in on twitter through my cell phone, because in U.S I'm using prepaid phone..
Also it's good for me that my laptop was broken. I would definitely addicted to Twitter..

Twitter could really be addictive as you all said. Just as new innovations come out and people are obsessed about it, so is twitter. i remember when Facebook started, you'll be considered "uncool" if you don't have an account. This i guess is the trend of new innovations.
